From the coastal waters of Long Island all the way up to Canada and Maine, everyone loves a hearty recipe for a lobster roll. It doesn’t matter how you make the roll; meat should be the star. Here are three lobster roll recipes that can tantalize your tastebuds and fill your mouth with flavor. 

Classic Maine Lobster Roll

Ingredients

  • Cooked Maine lobster meat  – 2 cups chopped into small chunks
  • Lemon juice – 2 teaspoons
  • Mayonnaise – half cup
  • Freshly ground pepper and salt – to taste
  • Hot dog buns – 4 (top slit)
  • Unsalted butter – 3 tablespoons
  • Parsley and chives - chopped

Directions

Toss the lobster meat in a bowl. Add lemon juice, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper. Dress the salad according to your liking, increasing or decreasing the amount of mayonnaise. Make sure that you add pepper sparingly to not to overpower the delectable taste of the lobster meat. 

Brush the buns with some butter and toast them over a hot cast-iron griddle until lightly brown. Open the buns and load them up with the salad and finish it off with parsley and chives. Serve immediately.

Old Bay Flavored Maine Lobster Roll

Ingredients

  • Celery – 3 to 4 stalks, chopped
  • Whole-grain buns – 4
  • Maine lobster meat – from 2 steamed lobsters
  • Mayonnaise – ¼ cup
  • Greek yogurt – 2 tablespoons
  • Jalapeno – 1, chopped.
  • Chives – one bunch, chopped.
  • Salt and black pepper – to taste
  • Old Bay Seasoning – ½ tablespoon

Directions

Toss the lobster meat with mayonnaise, celery, yogurt, jalapenos, chives, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Spread the salad over the buns and serve with a side of French fries.

Grilled Lobster Roll (This one’s for the health-conscious folks!)

Ingredients

  • Maine lobster tails – 2, weighing 10 to 12 ounces
  • Extra virgin olive oil – 2 teaspoons
  • Whole-grain hot dog buns – 4
  • Snow peas – 1 cup
  • Minced celery – ¼ cup
  • Mayonnaise – ¼ cup
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
  • Shallot – 1, mined
  • Dijon mustard – 2 teaspoons
  • Fresh tarragon – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt and pepper – to taste
  • Garlic powder – ½ teaspoon

Directions

Lay the lobster tails on a cutting board and cut them in half lengthwise from the fan to the center. Loosen the meat from the shell and run your finger down to separate it. Brush the lobster meat with oil and place them on a medium-high grill. Cook them for 5 to 6 minutes and let them rest.

Drop the snow peas in boiling water and let them blanch until bright green. Warm the buns over indirect heat and set them aside.

In a bowl, mix chopped lobster meat, snow peas, celery, shallot, tarragon garlic powder, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and mayonnaise. Top them on the bun and eat right away.
